WESTERN NEBRASKA — Six-week-old Betty Zamora, the subject of an Amber Alert out of western Nebraska Wednesday evening, has been located in Colorado.
The alert was started when Betty was taken from her home in Sidney. It triggered a search for the two believed to have taken her – Carlos Zamora Jr., 41, and Maria Campa, 37.
On Tuesday, authorities had been conducting a child neglect investigation regarding Betty. It appeared the family had left the home early Tuesday morning.
Sidney police received information that the family might have been heading for Kansas or Arizona. Police obtained warrants for Maria Campa and Carlos Zamora Jr. for violation of a custody order. They requested the Amber Alert Wednesday evening.
That alert was canceled shortly after midnight on Thursday morning.
Authorities said Betty was located in Colorado. Two arrests followed.
