Thursday afternoon, the life of a 22-year-old man was taken by a motorcycle accident.

Augustus E. Slavik is an Omaha resident. He owned a 1998 Honda CBR900RR motorcycle. While he was riding it close by Saddle Creek Road and Leavenworth Street, he lost control of his motorcycle.

Witnesses who saw Slavik claim that he had his helmet on, however, he was speeding. He struck the curb which caused his bike to go up onto the sidewalk and then hit a tree, meanwhile his motorcycle continued to travel towards the intersection until it hit the floor.

People who were nearby rushed towards him to give him CPR and help him get up. They also called 911 for help.

When the medics arrived, they rushed him to the Nebraska Medical Center. He was not in a good condition. The doctors later stated that he died in the hospital.

Slavik was referred to as “Gus” by his family members and close friends. He worked at a Jiffy Lube and was just a month away from getting his automotive tech degree. He attended Metro Community College and he was very passionate about cars.

His best friend Ryan W. was interviewed by KETV after Slavik’s death. Ryan said that Slavik was “Empathetic, ambitious, honest, extremely reliable, and witty.” Both had been good friends for a very long time and Slavik was his “role model for a million different ways.”
